What the flik is going on?

Where WhatFlik is headed, out in the open.

We’re building a media-focused platform where opinions are real and quality is rewarded: authentic reviews, genuine community, and media literacy over hot takes. Here’s what’s live, what we’re building, and where we’re headed. It’s public on purpose.

1. Live

   Find anything, in any language

   Describe a half-remembered scene or drop a screenshot, and get ranked matches with reasons, in the language you searched in.

2. Planned

   Search by video (planned)

   Upload a short clip and we will read the scene frame by frame to identify it, not just a single screenshot. It is planned for Supporter members. For now, describe the scene or add a screenshot.

3. Live

   One-time support with USDC on Base

   A single 5 USDC payment covers 30 days of up to 20 description or screenshot searches per hour for movies and TV shows. No automatic renewal.

   A real community, not a comment section

   Reviews, short posts, long-form opinion pieces, comments, follows, friends, and private direct messages are all live - discussion built around media literacy, why a film works, not just a star rating. Real people, real opinions, moderated for good faith.

   Follow people, make friends, message privately

   Follow reviewers whose taste you trust. When two people follow each other they become friends, which unlocks private, secure direct messages, so conversations stay between people who actually want to talk, not open to strangers.

   Supporter memberships

   Support WhatFlik for $5 USD a month by card. Your contribution helps cover running costs and platform improvements, with up to 20 description or screenshot searches per hour as our thank-you. Cancel anytime through the billing portal.

   Your profile, your voice

   Write reviews and short opinion pieces, pin the movies and shows you want to talk about, and link your YouTube, TikTok, Substack, and other accounts so people can follow your take. Every linked account is checked and locked to that platform, so a profile link can only ever go where it says.

   Verified reviewers

   Earned badges for people who consistently write thoughtful, honest reviews, so you can tell authentic voices from noise and astroturf. The score is sybil-resistant: engagement counts for what the engager is worth, back-scratching rings are discounted, and the top badge takes real time and a clean record - it cannot be bought or farmed with throwaway accounts.

   Tip great reviewers

   Connect a wallet and tip your favorite reviewers in USDC. It is a direct, non-custodial wallet-to-wallet transfer, so 100% reaches the reviewer - better than the “majority” we first promised. We take nothing and never hold the money.

11. Building

    Get paid for your reviews

    The rails are built and working: reviewer payout wallets, a membership-funded creator pool, quality-weighted allocation, the earnings ledger, and on-chain payouts. What is not real yet is the money in the pool - it only pays out once there is membership revenue funding it, and we would rather say that plainly than claim reviewers are earning today when they are not.
