Getting started

Get set up on Base

Never touched crypto? This is the whole thing, start to finish.

WhatFlik takes payment in USDC on Base. That sounds like a lot until you do it once: it is a digital dollar, sent from an account you control, and it costs a fraction of a cent to send. About ten minutes, four steps, and you never have to think about it again.

  1. Get a Coinbase wallet

This is where your money lives and where you approve payments. Set one up on Coinbase's own site, or grab the Coinbase app for your phone. It takes a few minutes, it is free, and only you can move what is inside.

  2. Put a few dollars of USDC in it

USDC is a digital dollar: one USDC is meant to be worth one dollar, always. It is not a coin you speculate on. You can buy a little right inside the wallet, or, if it is easier, open a Coinbase account to buy there and send it across. Membership is $3 to $5, and tips can be a dollar, so ten dollars is already plenty.

Or go to coinbase.com directlyWhat USDC is, from Coinbase

Heads up: that's a referral link. If you sign up through it and trade, Coinbase may pay WhatFlik a referral bonus. It costs you nothing extra and you get the same normal Coinbase account either way, so it's a free way to support the platform if you feel like it. If you'd rather not, use the plain link instead. 3. Tip or pay right here on WhatFlik

When you tip a reviewer or start a membership, WhatFlik opens one approval in your wallet. Check it is USDC on Base, confirm, and you are done. It lands in a few seconds and costs pennies. No card, no chargebacks, no auto-renewal.

  4. Or send someone crypto directly

You can also tip from the wallet app itself: tap Send, enter the person's wallet address, their .eth name, or their Coinbase username, pick USDC on Base, and confirm. You can even create a claimable link and drop it in a text or a DM, and they collect it into their own wallet.

What WhatFlik can and cannot do

This is the part people actually want to know, so here it is plainly.

  • We never hold your funds. Payments go straight from your wallet to the recipient, on-chain.
  • We never see your keys or your recovery phrase. There is nothing for us to lose.
  • We cannot move your money. We can't charge you, debit you, or pull a renewal. A payment only happens when you approve it in your own wallet.
  • No card details, no chargebacks, no auto-renewal. One payment covers one period, and then it stops.

Questions

Is this safe?
Your money stays in your own wallet until you approve a single payment, and WhatFlik never holds your funds, sees your keys, or has any way to charge you. The risk that remains is the ordinary one: if you give your wallet's recovery phrase to someone, they can take your money, so never give it to anyone, including us.
Do I need to understand crypto?
No. You need to do the same three things you would do to use any payment app — make an account, put a few dollars in it, and approve a payment — and you can ignore everything else.
What's a wallet?
It is an account that holds your digital dollars and signs off on payments, the way your banking app holds your balance and confirms a transfer. A Base Account is a free one that lives in your browser and takes about a minute to set up.
What if I already have one?
Then you are done: click the membership or tip button, approve the payment, and carry on. Any wallet that can pay with USDC on Base works, and you do not need a Coinbase account at all.
How much does it cost?
Membership is $3.00 or $5.00 in USDC for 30 days, and the network fee on Base is a fraction of a cent. There is no auto-renewal, so a payment covers one period and then nothing happens until you decide to pay again.
